Women As Creators: A Conversation about Art, Life, and History. WAAW community enjoyed the iconic members club Home House for welcome cocktails and a tour of the Canopy Collections curated art display. Following our tour there will be a multifaceted conversation between: Louise Chignac (director of Canopy Collections and the first female curator at Home House London), Marina Ruiz-Colomer (Head of Post-War and Contemporary Art at Bonhams 1793 UK & Europe) and Annya Sand (artist and founder of WAAW World).
In collaboration with Classic Art London and Colnaghi 1760 a historically important panel discussion for WAAW “On the Frontline – Women Driving the Art World”. The remarkable but often overlooked work that female collectors, patrons, and curators played in driving the London and New York art worlds in the early 20th century. Dr Isobel Muir (Assistant Curator, 19th Century British Art at TATE, Provenance Researcher, Project Curator – Van Gogh: Poets and Lovers at National Gallery), Dr Irene Walsh (independent art historian and writer focused on European and American modern art, museums, and the art markets), and Dr Marie Tavinor Programme Director, Executive MA in Cultural Leadership, Royal Academy of Arts. Co-Chair, Society for the History of Collecting) have unearthed fascinating stories from that time period that shaped the development of the art world as we know it.
